WHY I DO WHAT I DO

I AM AN OBSTETRICIAN AND GYNAECOLOGIST (O&G) ADEPT AT CURRENT MEDICAL AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF A WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS INVOLVING THE FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM, WITH OVER 15 YEARS OF WORKING EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY. I HAVE A SPECIAL INTEREST IN PRENATAL GENETIC , FETAL MEDICINE AND PRECANCER GYNAECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS.

I HAVE BEEN IN PRIVATE PRACTICE SINCE AUGUST 2010. PRIOR TO THAT I WAS AN ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY, AND SUPPORTING HEAD OF WOMEN’S 24 HOUR CLINIC AT KK WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL. I HAVE A MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PRENATAL GENETICS & FETAL MEDICINE FROM THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON.

I AM A REGISTERED COLPOSCOPIST WITH THE SOCIETY FOR COLPOSCOPY & CERVICAL PATHOLOGY OF SINGAPORE (SCCPS), AND WAS A CLINICAL TUTOR IN THE YOO LOO LIN (YLL) SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE. I HAVE WRITTEN ARTICLES THAT HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS, MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS AND HAVE BEEN INVITED AS A SPEAKER TO MANY PUBLIC FORUMS AS WELL AS RADIO TALKS .

THIS EXCELLENT SERVICE AWARD (EXSA) IS A NATIONAL AWARD THAT RECOGNIZES INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE SHOWN COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION IN PROVIDING OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO PATIENTS.

THESE INCLUDE MANAGEMENT OF ROUTINE AND COMPLICATED PREGNANCIES, DELIVERIES AND GYNAECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS, OPEN AND LAPAROSCOPIC GYNAECOLOGICAL SURGERIES, PREINVASIVE AND INVASIVE GYNAECOLOGICAL SURGERIES. I HAVE SPECIAL INTEREST PRENATAL GENETICS COUNSELING AND PREINVASIVE GYNAECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS. I FOCUS ON PATIENT-SAFETY AND INFORMED CONSENT.

Graduated from the National University of Ireland in 1998 with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees.

Nov 2001 MSc. Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine | University College London, United Kingdom

Obtained post-graduate qualification, Master of Science in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine from the University College London in 2001. This was an intensive one year academic, laboratory and research programme on genetics, embryology, in-vitro fertilization, prenatal diagnosis, screening and counselling, and fetal medicine set up and tutored by eminent clinicians Joyce Harper, Joy Delhanty and Charles Rodeck.

2008 Registered Colposcopist | Society for Colposcopy and Pathology of Singapore (SCCPS)

Accredited by the SCCPS in 2008 to perform colposcopy, a procedure required for the optimal management of women with abnormal smears and other disorders of the lower genital tract.

2009 Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology | Specialist Accreditation Board and Singapore Medical Council

Achieved Specialist Accreditation with the Ministry of Health Singapore and the Singapore Medical Council in June 2009.
